'Jungli murga' on dinner menu lands Himachal CM Sukhu in a soup
A video showed Himachal CM Sukhu seemingly offering endangered Grey Junglefowl to associates. BJP demanded an apology. Sukhu denied consuming the dish, citing health reasons. He stated non-veg consumption is common in villages. The incident occur...

In the viral clip, Sukhu can be heard saying, "Inko do jungli murga, hume thodi khana hai" (Serve them the jungle fowl; we won’t eat it), before asking his companions if they wished to try the dish. The inclusion of Grey Junglefowl on the menu sparked backlash, with the Himachal BJP demanding an apology from the CM for allegedly promoting the consumption of the protected bird.
Responding to the controversy, Sukhu denied eating the dish, citing health concerns and his preference for avoiding oily and non-vegetarian food. He added that consuming non-vegetarian food is a cultural norm in many villages and accused the BJP of politicising the matter.
Hunting and eating Grey Junglefowl, although illegal, is reportedly common in the rural areas of Himachal Pradesh, particularly during the colder months. However, its endangered status has drawn attention to the issue, with critics emphasising the need for stricter conservation measures.
