The chargesheet, however, did not mention any direct links of the ruling Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) in sheltering the JuMB militants. Two persons died while another was injured while making an improvised explosive device in a rented accommodation in Khagragarh on October 2 last year.
The agency gives details about the suicide attacks carried out by JuMB in Bangladesh since 2005, including that of a failed attempt on Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina. It also claimed the group, which was active in India, was trying to avenge atrocities against Muslims in Assam and were planning to target top Bodo leaders in Assam.
"Its activities in India primarily included recruitment, radicalisation and training of vulnerable youths in a systematic and organised manner. The training videos seized from their possession were of similar in nature as used by ISIS and al-Qaida," said NIA. From the testimony of the arrested women members of JuMB, which was first reported by ET, the agency said in its chargesheet that the women cadres of the outfit were highly motivated and trained, a fact that was evident when even after the death of their husband in the blast, the two — Gulsana Bibi and Alima Bibi — first destroyed evidence.
