Judiciary to needs a watchdog against corruption: BJP
BJP on Sunday expressed concern over increasing instances of corruption in higher judiciary and said judges of the Supreme Court and high courts must be brought under a system of scrutiny against misconduct.
"Present system of removal of judges through a motion in Parliament has failed. So, they need to be brought under the purview of Judicial Accountability Bill, National Judicial Commission or Lokpal to provide for a mechanism to redress the public grievance against corruption in higher judiciary," leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley said.
Reminded that the judiciary was headed by Justice S H Kapadia who is known for his impeccable integrity, Jaitley said, "An honest Chief Justice of India is not enough to stem the rot in the institution."
