BJP president JP Nadda will on Wednesday hold a meeting with Union ministers on how to celebrate eight years of governance, named 'Eight Years of Modi Government: Sewa Sushashan, Gareeb Kalyan.

The ministers will be assigned states and time schedules at the meeting. BJP insiders said that focus of the celebration would be on how the government 'worked for upliftment of poor' through different government schemes targeted at the lower strata of society.

BJP had formed an eight-member committee, with general secretary Arun Singh as convenor and CT Ravi as co-convenor, to oversee national level preparations for the event. The committee members will also attend Wednesday's meetings.


Apart from the central committee, a team of 129 leaders has been appointed in state committees to oversee 75 hours of celebrations, starting on May 30. The celebration will begin with Nadda launching a book on governance called 'Report to Nation' in New Delhi on Monday. The book launch will also take place across states and party leaders would address news conferences at every district headquarters.

All Union ministers, state leaders and ministers will spend at least eight hours in a polling booth each, connecting with people and talking about government schemes. The party also plans to honour beneficiaries of different government schemes during the celebrations. Nadda had met with some ministers in the past few weeks to collect information on achievements of ministries which will be highlighted during the celebration.
