Guwahati: BJP national president JP Nadda on Tuesday slammed the Congress for attacking the government instead of standing by it over border issues and the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic. “We were in opposition for a long time. In 1962, 1965 and 1971 (wars) we stood by the government.

However, see the opposition Congress’ role in the Kargil war, border row with China and the corona situation,” Nadda said addressing the first virtual rally of BJP in Assam. “While our jawans were fighting in Galwan for protecting our land, Congress leaders gave statements which may lower the morale of the armed forces. While the standoff was going on in Doklam (in 2017), Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was engaged in a leisurely meeting with the Chinese ambassador,” he said.

He also said the Congress leadership and its chief ministers were not on the same page over several issues. “Seems the chief ministers do not consult the party leaders on lockdown or petrol prices,” the BJP chief said.
