BJP president JP Nadda and Union home minister Amit Shah will take stock of the Lok Sabha Pravas (tour) programme this week. The party leadership has identified 160 Lok Sabha seats as relatively 'weak' constituencies.

ET had reported earlier that BJP was focusing extensively on these 'weak' seats and had divided them into clusters of 40 each, with Union ministers deputed to spend time in there.

BJP has identified 14 seats in UP, 10 in Bihar, 12 in Telangana, 18 in Maharashtra and two in Jharkhand among others as 'weak' seats. Nadda and Shah had toured all these constituencies.

Three rounds of Lok Sabha Pravas on these seats have been completed by Union ministers, sources told ET. The leadership is likely to take stock of the reports prepared by the touring ministers regarding these 'weak' seats. Apart from Nadda and Shah, party general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh and cluster in-charge ministers will also be present during the meeting. BJP general secretary and programme's convenor Vinod Tawde will also attend the meeting. State convenors for the programme may also be called to the deliberations.

ET has reported that BJP is planning to name candidates for these 'weak' Lok Sabha seats early, much before the announcement of dates for the Lok Sabha polls, just like it has done for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, where the party has released its first list of candidates for the assembly elections.
