NEW DELHI: In a significant remark, senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi today said all coalition governments, including his party-led NDA, indulged in power politics and warned that the trend could lead to another partition of the country.
"Coalition governments are no more practising politics they are known for. They are more focussed on power politics now," the former union minister said here.
"Today it is the UPA coalition government, yesterday it was NDA, tomorrow it will be someone else ... If the situation continues, we will see another partition of the country in the near future," Joshi warned.
The BJP leader, who was addressing a memorial function organised to pay tribute to former editor of 'Panchajanya', Bhanupratap Shukla, said "if the Hindutva identity of the nation is not preserved, the country would not remain united."
RSS chief K S Sudarshan, who was also present, criticised the "growing influence" of English media in the country and said there should be a "censor" on the media.
"Electronic media gets funds from foreign countries and under Western influence they are spreading nudity and obscenity in the country," he said.
"Media should stop the double standard ... and liberate themselves from Western influence," he said.
Hari Krishan Nigam and Satyapal Krishanrao, both columnist, were awarded on the occasion
