JNU row a result of conspiracy: RSS leader, Dattatreya Hosabale
MEERUT: Amid a row over an event at JNU, RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale has alleged that it was a result of a "conspiracy" and those who raised slogans in support of Pakistan and Afzal Guru are "traitors" and should be charged with treason.

Students participating in such sloganeering must be dealt with strictly, he said.

Speaking at the Mahanagar Swayamsewak Sangam here yesterday, the RSS Joint General Secretary wondered how a generation of students indulging in anti-national sloganeering came up in an institution, which is known as a temple of learning.

Hosabale alleged that the JNU event was a result of a "conspiracy".

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had yesterday unleashed a political storm with a claim that the event at JNU to protest the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru had received "support" from LeT founder Hafiz Saeed.

Hitting out at the Congress, Hosable said the party which was responsible for converting the whole country into a "jail" in 1975 now talks about freedom of expressions.

Asking Swayamsevaks to fight the challenges faced by the nation, he said the country is facing danger from inside and outside by "anti-national" elements.

Hinduism is not a religion but a way to life, he said, adding the world is a family and to bring social harmony society has to come forward.

The RSS had yesterday made a veiled attack on the Congress and the Left over their stand on the JNU row, saying some political leaders are "condoning anti-national acts instead of demanding action against them".

RSS spokesperson Manmohan Vaidya had termed as "serious" what he claimed was students engaging in "anti-India activities" on the campus of a central university and some teachers supporting them.

"At the expense of exchequer money, instead of studying, students are involving themselves in anti-India activities and some teachers are supporting them. It is serious," he had said on RSS twitter handle.

The RSS leader had also attacked the Left for leading the recent "pro Afzal Guru" demonstrations on the JNU campus.
