JNU admn should hand over accused students to police: BJP

NEW DELHI: BJP today said the JNU administration should hand over the accused students being looked for by Delhi police in the case of sedition to cops, adding that those "protecting" them should let law take its own course.

The party also parried questions about the use of allegedly doctored video to target JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar, who in the only person arrested in the case, and other students, saying it is for police and courts to judge evidence.

BJP National Secretary Shrikant Sharma said Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and the Left leaders should now go to the campus again and make the accused whom they were "protecting" surrender to the police.

"This daily drama on the campus is affecting the studies of over 8000 students. Rahul and his friends should go now to make them surrender," he said.

Police officials are positioned outside the varsity campus since last night after they got inputs about presence of the accused students on campus.

"JNU administration should act and hand over the accused students to them," Sharma said.

Taking a dig at member of the varsity's faculty who have come out in the support of these students, he said those who are protecting the accused should have faith in the law.

Asked about alleged doctored video, he said, "People should not act as judges. Police and courts have evidence and they will rule on it."
