JKNPP hopes PM will announce AIIMS, Smart city for Jammu

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party ( JKNPP) today expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will announce the establishment of AIIMS here and select Jammu under Smart City project when he visits the state on November 7.

"Jammu region has a highly fragile tertiary health care system. We hope that the PM would announce establishment of the premier health institution in the region keeping the long cherished dream and the desperate need of the people under consideration", JKNPP Chairman Harsh Dev Singh said here.

The former Education Minister also pointed out that J&K was the only state which was kept out of the 'Smart Cities' project in which 98 cities were shortlisted by the Union Ministry of Urban Development.

He adjured Modi to select Jammu under 'Smart city' project since it had satisfied all the eligibility criteria and pre-set benchmarks to have a superior claim for the selection under 'Smart City' project.

Anticipating the redressal of the issues pertaining to Jammu region, Singh reminded Prime Minister of BJP's pre-poll promises doled out to the people ahead of his visit to the state.

Singh said that the people of Jammu region had overwhelmingly voted in favour of the BJP and brought it to power wishing that the saffron party would liberate them from "sufferings" and "regional discrimination" by espousing their issues in letter and spirit.

He maintained that more than 8 months had gone by since the formation of the state government but the plight of the people of Jammu region stood unabated.

Singh reminded that the transfer of the prestigious health edifice AIIMS to Kashmir which was actually sanctioned for Jammu region during the Union Budget session earlier this year had stoked civil unrest which took the shape of a mass movement.

Singh while referring to the BJP's commitment on the issue of delimitation of Assembly constituencies revealed that there had been no legitimate delimitation in J&K since 1981.
