The PDP chief said the ruling BJP is not confronting the crisis. "How will this political theatre create jobs, control soaring prices or tackle the real urgent problems weighing on millions of Indians?"
National Conference legislator Tanvir Sadiq said that a right-thinking Indian naturally regards Vande Mataram as integral to our nation's spirit, a reflection of our diversity, ethos and existence.
"But the real question is why are we even discussing this? Has anyone challenged it? Is it under threat? No," said Sadiq, adding, "At a time when the country is grappling with major challenges, shifting focus away from them is neither wise nor responsible."
CPI (M) MLA MY Tarigami said that Parliament is discussing and creating issues which are not of urgent importance and don't matter in the day to day lives of people.
