J&K mob kills innocent civilian
A civilian, who was attacked by a stone-pelting mob, died in hospital on Wednesday night.
Stone pelting in Tengpora had created a law and order crisis in the belt, necessitating deployment of paramilitary forces during odd hours. Usually all such deployments are made for 12 hours from dawn.
According to the police and paramilitary forces, stone pelting has injured around 2,000 personnel. More than 68 civilians, mostly youth and children, died in police firing, since June 11, after they resorted to violence.
Civilians too have been victims of stone-pelting. Guroo’s killing is not an isolated case. In April, Shafiq Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of uptown Natipora, died after one such attack in the same Batamaloo locality. An 11-month-old too died in March during a similar stone pelting incident.
