J&K MLA Sheikh Abdul Rashid hoists state flag; BJP has no issues

SRINAGAR: Pro-India politician and member of J&K MLA, Sheikh Abdul Rashid alias Engineer Rashid, hoisted the state flag at Srinagar asserting that New Delhi has to accept the distinct identity of the state. BJP — partner in the ruling coalition — which has historically supported abrogation of article 370, guaranteeing special status to the state, considered it a ‘non-event’.

Rashid along with his scores of supporters — from his constituency Langate in north Kashmir — celebrated the state flag day at Lal Chowk in Srinagar. The legislator demanded that the government should declare June 7 as state holiday and hoist flag on all the government premises, including Kashmir house in Delhi.
