SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir government is making substantial investments for development work in the state.
The state's Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) has provided Rs 60 lakh as marginal money and Rs 2 crore credit to unemployed youth for setting up 116 income generating units in 2005-06. These units have created employment for 2,000, a spokesman of the Board said on Thursday.
The state had invested Rs 22.72 crore under various development schemes in Baramulla district during last fiscal, out of which, Rs 4.79 crore was spent on the completion of 1,321 works under Swarn Gram Rogzar Yojna (SGRY) in the district, an official spokesman said.
Around Rs 2.59 crore was utilised on building 1,120 low-cost houses under Indira Awaz Yojna (IAY) and Rs 3.58 crore was spent on rural roads under PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna).
About Rs 93.98 lakh was also spent on 16 model villages in the district, he said.
About 21,000 metre drains will be constructed during this year in the district and over 58 km road will be blacktopped, 110 km metalled or remetalled and 30 km road length shingled during the period, he said.
As many as 27 schemes are being taken up in state sector in the district at the cost of Rs 24 crore this fiscal.
