JK govt to provide incentives for teachers in remote areas

The Jammu and Kashmir government is mulling over providing incentives like increase in house rent allowance for teachers in remote areas.

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government is mulling over providing incentives like increase in house rent allowance for teachers willing to serve in remote and far flung areas of the state.

"Increase in House Rent Allowance is one of the incentives under active consideration of the government for teachers serving in remote areas," state Education Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed told a delegation of JK Teachers Forum members here yesterday.
Teachers in the state had gone on strike earlier this month, demanding payment of arrears under the Sixth Pay Commission and regularisation of Rehbar-e-Taleem (education volunteers) teachers on June 14.

More than 30 protesting teachers were detained by police during the strike.

In the meeting, Sayeed assured the Forum members that the issues regarding Educational Volunteers and contingency paid workers will be solved at the earliest.
