JK govt to issue domicile certificates to Pak refugees
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said West Pakistani refugees in the state would be provided domicile certificates to enable them to apply for jobs in Central government departments.

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said West Pakistani refugees in the state would be provided domicile certificates to enable them to apply for jobs in Central government departments.
"They will be provided domicile certificates on the basis of which they can apply for jobs in Central government departments," he told a public meeting in Kathua district.
To improve their economic condition, bank loans would be given to them without security since they did not own land or property in the state, Azad said.
A cell had been set up in the Union Finace Ministry in this regard, he said adding it had already started its work.
The Chief Minister said these decisions were taken by the state government to enable them to live a better life.
The Prime Minister had also announced a package for displaced persons from PoK and West Pakistani refugees during his recent tour to the state.
Vocational training opportunities for refugees were part of the pacakge, Azad said.
Problems plaguing the displaced people from PoK and refugees from West Pakistan were lingering for decades, he said adding the successive governments had failed to solve these.
For the displaced people from PoK, Azad said Rs 50 crore had been sanctioned for those families which were not adequately compensated at the time of their arrival here.
