JK govt approves bifurcation of DIC

Jammu and Kashmir government has approved the long pending demand for the bifurcation of the Directorate of Industries and Commerce for Kashmir and Jammu provinces.

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir government has approved the long pending demand for the bifurcation of the Directorate of Industries and Commerce for Kashmir and Jammu provinces.

State cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad here last evening, approved the bifurcation of the Directorate of Industries, Principal Secretary General Administration department Khursheed Ahmad Ganaie told reporters after the meeting.

The decision to have separate directorates for the Kashmir and Jammu has been taken as the industrial development in the state has not been able to tap its full potential, Ganaie said adding the decision will give tremendous impetus to the industrial development in the region.

Ganaie said Industries and Commerce Department has done a good job and 15 new posts will have to be created for setting up of separate directorates.

In another decision intending to give fillip to tourism industry of the state, the cabinet approved transfer of more than 380 hectares of land to Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA), Ganaie said.
