J&K Council polls: Congress asks its MLAs to vote for National Conference nominees
JAMMU: Congress has appealed to all its MLAs to vote for National Conference candidates in the upcoming elections to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council.

"Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President Saifuddin Soz has requested all Congress MLAs to vote for the two candidates fielded by National Conference for election to the Legislative Council," a party spokesman said here today.

He said the legislators had assured Soz that they would follow the instructions of the party leadership and would vote for the NC candidates.

"The legislators also raised many other issues in the meeting such as deficiency of medicines for patients who have been tested positive for swine flu. The members also complained that the masks needed for the public were not available," the spokesman said.

Congress and National Conference has agreed on a deal during the Rajya Sabha elections in which NC had agreed to support Congress candidate Ghulam Nabi Azad and in return Congress would support NC candidates in the Legislative Council polls.
