J&K Congress terms exit poll results as baseless and unscientific
JAMMU: Flaying the exit polls which have predicted a washout of the Congress in the just concluded state assembly elections, the party today termed these results as "baseless and unscientific".

Congress spokesperson Salman Nizami said the exit polls were an attempt to mislead the people of the state and demoralise the party's candidates and workers.

"The morning of December 23 will be a new dawn for the party, when people will get to know the actual outcome of the polls," he said in a statement here.

He said that the Congress was confident of forming the next government in the state.

"The survey conducted is unscientific as it has taken into consideration a small sample from only the urban areas of the state whereas the rural areas have completely been ignored," he said.

Denying the existence of "Modi wave" in the state, Nizami claimed that people voted for Ghulam Nabi Azad as they had seen his performance during his three year tenure as the chief minister of the state.

"There is no Modi Wave here. BJP will never form a government in Jammu and Kashmir. The people of Kashmir have given a befitting reply to the BJP and the people of Jammu region have followed the suit," he added.

Yesterday, India TV-CVoter exit poll projected 4-10 seats for Congress in Jammu and Kashmir. Another exit poll, carried out by AXIS-APM and aired on CNN-IBN, said both NC and Congress are fighting for third spot and can win 9-13 seats.
