J&K CM Mufti Mohammed Sayeed has hurt voters: Congress

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Congress today said Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed has hurt the voters of the state by his controversial remarks giving credit to Pakistan, Hurriyat and militant outfits for peaceful Assembly elections.

"Such a senior leader (Mufti) should not have made such remarks discrediting people of Jammu and Kashmir as they were instrumental in successful polls in J-K," newly-appointed Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief Gulam Ahmed Mir told reporters here this evening.

"Mufti sahib is considered as a senior politician of this state but yesterday's statement, he gave regarding voting, has hurt the voters of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions," Mir said.

The JKPCC chief said that the voters came out to vote for parties and leaders based on the work done and manifesto, but the way Mufti sahib said that it was because of Pakistan and militants... such a senior leader should have not made such remarks discrediting people of J-K and those who were instrumental in successful polls in the state.

Hitting out at PDP and BJP, Mir said "BJP and PDP took a u-turn. What they were saying and propagating during elections, now in government, they have totally taken a u-turn".

"In recent elections, both the coalition partners kept flagged off divisive political agendas to vow voters... now that the people voted them with more seats... they are now resorting to reopening to new chapters to fool people and forget the past promises and their agendas," he said.

He said "BJP sold their agendas of Article 370 and ek vidha eik pradhan and eik nishan for power and compromised with their ideology. And PDP bargained power for self rule and AFSPA. It was meeting north pole to south pole".

Mir said "for past over three to fours years, BJP batted strongly for a Hindu chief minister and other issues but after the people voted them with 25 seats, they forgot the agenda which they could have easily bargained with coalition partner, and deceived people of Jammu and compromised their 60-year-old ideology".

On issue of Afzal Guru, he said "let us wait and watch how many more issues will come out. They have exposed on the promises and slogans, they got votes on and now what they are selling to the people of Jammu and Kashmir".
