J&K CM Omar Abdullah on Tuesday visited the family of Dr Shahnawaz Dar, who was killed in the recent Gagangir attack in Ganderbal district along with six others, and promised to bear the education expenses of his son.

Abdullah, along with his advisor Nasir Aslam Wani and MLA Khan Sahib Saif-ud-din Bhat visited the residence of Dar in Budgam district, around 30 km from Srinagar, and expressed his condolences and solidarity with the family members.

J&K Police has detained over three dozen suspects for investigation into the attack and forces equipped with the high-tech drones and sniffer dogs have been deployed to search the nearby mountains to track the route of the attackers. "We have managed to get a few leads and are working on it," said a senior police official.
