Jharkhand lawyers on a day's ceasework tomorrow

Lawyers in Jharkhand would launch a ceasework tomorrow in protest against an order by Dhanbad district administration asking pleaders to vacate the campus of Sub-Divisional Magistrate court.

DHANBAD (JHARKHAND): Lawyers in Jharkhand would launch a ceasework tomorrow in protest against an order by Dhanbad district administration asking pleaders to vacate the campus of Sub-Divisional Magistrate court.

Dhanbad Bar Association General Secretary Raheshyam Goswami said here today, "the Bar Council has declared statewide protest tomorrow in support of our demand".

The advocates of Dhanbad had been on dharna against the step by the administration from January 26 with their counterparts in other Jharkhand courts expressing solidarity with the move.

"The advocates have been sitting in the SDM campus since 1908 and even British government recognised the arrangement. But the Deputy Commissioner is changing the century's old arrangement sans a proper, alternative provision for us," he said.
