Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Ramdas Soren at Raj Bhavan in Ranchi. The ceremony saw the presence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, senior JMM-led alliance leaders, and several government officials.
Ramdas Soren’s induction came after Champai Soren resigned from his ministerial position and his role as an MLA on Wednesday. Reports indicate that Champai Soren is set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) later today.
Champai Soren had taken the oath as a minister in Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s cabinet only last month. He left the JMM on Wednesday, stating that the state government’s "present style of functioning and policies" compelled him to depart from the party he had served for many years.
Champai Soren became the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on February 2, following Hemant Soren's resignation due to his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case. Champai Soren quit the post on July 3, and Hemant Soren took the oath as Chief Minister again on July 4, after being released on bail.
