'Jharkhand gets 13 units with an investment of Rs 880.31 cr'
Union minister of state for home Ajay Maken stated in the Rajya Sabha that 13 units with an investment of Rs 880.31 crore went into production during the last three years in Jharkhand.
The minister's response came on Wednesday following pointed questions of Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand, Parimal Nathwani, who wanted to know whether extremist activities were a major hurdle in attracting fresh industrial and other investments in Jharkhand.
Mr Nathwani also asked if the government was planning to take any serious step to check extremism. The minister, in his reply, stated that the state government dealt with various issues related to extremist activities and the Centre supplemented the resources and efforts of the state government in several ways including deployment of central paramilitary forces, commando battalions etc.
In accordance with the statement of the minister placed on the table of the House, 94 MoU proposals for investment in the state came in last three years, of which only 32 MoUs were signed and only 13 units started production.
