Jharkhand CM Shibu Soren loses Tamar assembly by-election

Shibu Soren lost by-poll from Tamar assembly. He may have to resign.

NEW DELHI: Jharkhand chief minister Shibu Soren has lost the by-poll from Tamar assembly.

After the loss the chief minister may have to resign from the post.

Soren was trailing behind Gopal Krishna Patar of Jharkhand Party after the seventh round of counting and there are at least 11 more rounds to go, election office sources said.

The bypoll was held on January three and the counting was taken up today. Soren was seeking to enter the assembly within the stipulated six months after assuming office on August 27.

The seat fell vacant after JD(U) legislature party leader Ramesh Singh Munda was gunned down on July 9 last year by Maoists.
