There were reports that Das would expand his cabinet to its full strength of 12 ministers after the three-day session of the Jharkhand Assembly.

NEW DELHI: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi amidst reports of the state cabinet's expansion which is likely to take place after a three-day special session of the Assembly starting on January 6.

After assuming office, this was Das's first meeting with the Prime Minister who could not attend his swearing-in on December 28 as his flight could not take off because of bad weather in Delhi.

Sources close to him described the 30-minute meeting as a "courtesy" call.

Das also met other BJP leaders, they said. There were reports that Das would expand his cabinet to its full strength of 12 ministers after the three-day session of the Jharkhand Assembly.

Das had met Modi and BJP President Amit Shah a day before he was sworn in as the Chief Minister.

Das, a five-time legislator from East Jamshedpur, is the state's first non-tribal Chief Minister.
