Das and two others were acquitted in the case relating to the state Assembly polls of 2009, saying adequate evidence was not available to prove the charges against them.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Ajit Kumar Singh acquitted Das and two others in the case relating to the state Assembly polls of 2009, saying adequate evidence was not available to prove the charges against them.
The three were charged under sections of IPC and Defacement of Property Act.
Das, who arrived in the steel city from Ranchi this morning, appeared in the court along with Chandrasekhar Mishra, former East Singhbhum district committee president of BJP, and Ramphal Mishra, a BJP worker.
The case had been registered against them on the basis of a statement of an Election Commission official T Kerketta accusing them of opening a party election office in the premises belonging to Ramphal Mishra at Sakchi here without the prior permission of the district administration and in violation of the model code during 2009 Assembly polls.
