Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren meets governor Ramesh Bais in link with office of profit case

Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren on Thursday met Jharkhand governor Ramesh Bais and demanded a copy of the recommendation sent by the Election Commission in the office of profit case. Soren also alleged that BJP is trying to destabilise his government by talking about the office of profit case against him.

"It appears from the public statements of BJP leaders that the EC has submitted its recommendation to them. Since August 25, the media has been running the news that the EC has recommended my disqualification as a member of the assembly in the case," Soren wrote in the letter.

The letter said that on September 1, a delegation of leaders had met the governor who had assured them that a decision would be taken in 2-3 days. Since that hasn't happened, he demanded that the governor should provide him a copy of the EC's recommendation and give him an opportunity to hear his case.


On Wednesday, Soren made many announcements, including addressing several long-pending issues. The Jharkhand Cabinet on Wednesday increased OBC reservation from 14% to 27%. The Cabinet also approved a 2% increase in reservation for SC/ST category taking the overall reservation in the state to 77%. The state also approved the long-pending demand of considering the 1932 property documents of the state in deciding the real residents of the state.
