Jhabbar killings: Brinda Karat demands probe by central agency
LATEHAR (JHARKHAND): Senior CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat today demanded a probe by a central agency into the March 18 killing of two persons in Latehar district's Jhabbar village.

"We demand a probe by a central agency into the killings," CPI(M) Politburo member Brinda Karat said, dismissing police claims that the 32-year-old man and the 13-year-old boy had been killed with a motive to loot their animals.

Karat, who met the families of the deceased, also demanded jobs for a member of each of the two families.

A party delegation would meet Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Raghubar Das tomorrow in connection with the incident, she said.

The police had arrested five persons in connection with the incident.

The two persons were found hanging from a tree on March 18, which triggered violence leaving a sub-divisional officer and six policemen injured.

The police had said the two persons left their homes with cattle for Tutilawa village in the neighbouring Chatra district for an animal fair there, but they were killed at Jhabbar and were hung from a tree to make it look like suicide. They said the motive behind the killing was to loot their animals.
