JD(U) starts process to throw out Sharad Yadav
NEW DELHI: Janata Dal (U) general secretary K C Tyagi shot off a letter to senior leader Sharad Yadav on Friday virtually initiating the process of expelling him from the party and seeking his disqualification from the Rajya Sabha. “Since you have indicated to take part in August 27 rally of the RJD in Patna, it will be considered that you have voluntarily quit the party ,“ Tyagi has written to Yadav in the letter sent on Friday . Tyagi has mentioned how Yadav has repeatedly violated the party norms by questioning the leadership on alliance with the BJP and also not taking part in the recent national executive.

JD(U) is set to seek disqualification of Yadav as Rajya Sabha member as he has confirmed his participation in the RJD rally.

The party has zeroed in on the provisions of the Tenth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. Clause 2 (a) of the Tenth Schedule has provisions for disqualification if a member of the House has voluntarily given up his membership of such political party.

“Despite being in Patna, Sharad Yadav didn't take part in party's national executive meet and if he goes on to take part in a political rally convened by the rival party , it will be considered that he has voluntarily given up the party mem bership,“ Tyagi told TOI. Yadav's current tenure as Rajya Sabha member ends in 2022.

After the national executive meet at Patna on Saturday, the party had asked Yadav to refuse the invitation for the August 27 rally as his participation would constitute a serious violation of the party principles amounting to action. However, the party had not spelled out what action will be taken against Yadav, one of the founding party members but left with minuscule support in the party as his Jan Samvad event parallel to the JD(U) national executive saw no party supporter turning up.

AJD(U) leader said that the party expects Yadav will keep away from the Patna rally .
