JD(U) seeks legal opinion to crack whip on MLAs opposing merger
"We are seeking legal opinion to deal with these MLAs," Parliamentary Affairs minister Shrawan Kumar told reporters today.

"We are seeking legal opinion to deal with these MLAs," Parliamentary Affairs minister Shrawan Kumar told reporters today.
He said Education Minister P K Shahi, who is a former Advocate General, is also contemplating on the issue.
A total of 10 JD(U) MLAs had absented themselves from the crucial legislature party meeting on Wednesday night which gave green signal to merger and authorised party President Sharad Yadav and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to speed up the process of assimilation.
Eighteen MLAs have been siding with former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and charting a different course. They included eight whose membership has been terminated and the Patna High Court has refused to restore their membership.
They voted in favour of unauthorised candidates in the bypoll on two Rajya Sabha seats last year but were forced to be with the party during confidence vote sought by Nitish Kumar after assuming chair for the fourth time on February 22 this year in compliance of the issued whip, violation of which could have cost them membership.
The rebel JD(U) legislators under leadership of Manjhi have floated Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM) and waiting for formal announcement of merger.
Manjhi today told reporters in Aurangabad that he and supporting MLAs would be "natural claimant" of JD(U) if others decide to leave and merge with other parties in Janata Parivar.
