JD(U) seeking tie-up with BJP in five poll-bound states

NEW DELHI: Janta Dal-United will contest elections in all five states which are going to polls this year and is seeking tie-up with NDA ally BJP.

A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of the national executive chaired by party President Sharad Yadav here.

JD-U, which is a key constituent of NDA and is heading a government in Bihar in alliance with the BJP, will strive to forge tie-ups with the BJP in West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puduchery.

In the meeting, Yadav directed party general secretary and incharge of Assam Javed Raza to talk to senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley on alliance issue in the state, while party national general secretary Arun Kumar Srivastava will be negotiating with BJP on forging alliance in the other states.

The meeting also deliberated on party's plans for Uttar Pradesh, which is going to elections in 2012. It has decided to hold divisional rallies in the states.
