JDU claims because of its pressure NDA govt shelved citizenship bill
Janata Dal (United) claimed that due to pressure exerted by the party, NDA government did not table citizenship amendment bill in Rajya Sabha.

Janata Dal (United) secretary general K C Tyagi recently led a delegation to Northeast India. The delegation which included Vice President, Prasant Kishore and General secretary in charge of Northeast India Afaque Ahmad Khan met Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leaders and members of All Assam students Union (AASU).
JDU (U) which has six MPs in Rajya Sabha stated that it will vote against the bill in Rajya Sabha.
JDU stated that the bill is unconstitutional and threat to sovereignty of Assam, this will trigger demographic changes and is done for political gains. JDU is the first national party to oppose the bill and take a resolution in the party’s national committee that it is against the bill.
Earlier AASU delegation has met Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar seeking his support in opposing the bill.
