The proposal to merge the Janata Dal-Secular (Surendra Mohan faction) with Samajwadi Party was taken unanimously and the party would stick with the ruling LDF even after the merger, party state president M P Veerendrakumar said today.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM,JUN1: The proposal to merge the Janata Dal-Secular (Surendra Mohan faction) with Samajwadi Party was taken unanimously and the party would stick with the ruling LDF even after the merger, party state president M P Veerendrakumar said today.

Addressing a Yuva Janata Dal conference here, he said discussions had been held with CPI-M General Secretary Prakash Karat, state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan and CPI state secretary Veliyam Bharagavan on the matter.

There were legal hurdles to be part of the LDF in the name of JD-S. No member of the state council of the party had opposed the merger move, he said.

A decision on the merger would be taken after the national council meeting in June and a merger conference would be held after that, Veerendrakumar said.
