JDS disciplinary committee meet in Delhi on Wednesday

A day after one of its MP Shivanna reportedly voted in favour UPA government defying the party directive, the disciplinary committee of JDS is expected to meet in Delhi to take action.

BANGALORE: A day after one of its MP Shivanna reportedly voted in favour UPA government defying the party directive, the disciplinary committee of JDS is expected to meet in Delhi on Wednesday to take stock of the situation and debate on action to be taken against him.

"We have learnt through media that Shivanna, our Chamarajanagar MP supported the trust vote moved by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh yesterday on the floor of Lok Sabha. Our party President H D Deve Gowda has convened the meeting of the disciplinary committee today in Delhi", Karnataka unit JDS President Merajuddin Patel said.

A meeting of top leaders of the party will also be called shortly here to discuss organisational issues including the alleged cross voting by Shivanna, he said.

Patel condemned luring of MPs by cash to win the trust vote.

Of the three MPs JDS has in Lok Sabha, M P Veerendra Kumar and Deve Gowda voted against the motion in line with decision the party had taken.

The former prime minister was expected to return to the city tomorrow.
