JCC calls another 5-day strike from September 17 in Jammu and Kashmir
Joint Consultative Committee called for a five-day-long strike starting September 17 to press for their demands.
Work in government offices in the state was affected for the third consecutive day today with the JCC's call for a three-day strike from September 9 to press the government on fulfilling its demands.
"JCC has now decided to go for a five-day-long agitation," senior leader of JCC Mohammad Gafoor Dar told reporters here today.
"We have decided to hold protests on September 17, a candlelight march the next day (Sept 18), gherao of the Civil Secretariat on September 19 and demonstrations on September 20 and 21 in the state," Dar added.
Leaders of the employees' association have accused the state government of backtracking on an agreement reached with the JCC on September 15, 2011.
