We don't have any biological samples of Jayalalithaa: Apollo hospital to Madras HC
CHENNAI: The management of Apollo Hospitals, where former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa was hospitalised, has informed the Madras high court that it doesn’t have any biological samples of the late CM in its possession.

The hospital management made the submission in response to a query raised by Justice S Vaidyanathan in this regard, while hearing a plea moved by Bengaluru-based Amrutha claiming to be Jayalalithaa’s biological daughter. She also wanted the court to order DNA test to prove her claim.

Jayalalithaa was admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai on September 22, 2016 following complaints of fever and dehydration but developed complications later. She died on December 5, 2016.

During earlier hearings, Jayalalithaa's nephew Deepak and niece Deepa opposed the claim of Amrutha and submitted that the petitioner had to approach only the civil court as she had not furnished any proof in support of her claim.

Similarly, the state government also filed an affidavit submitting that there was no evidence available with the government to prove the petitioner's claim that she had met former chief minister at her Poes Garden residence or that Jayalalithaa had met her during her visits to Bengaluru.

The next hearing in the case is on June 4.
