Jayalalithaa’s acquittal: Opposition urges Karnataka government to move to Supreme Court
The opposition DMK is pointing to what it says are arithmetic errors which led to the acquittal of J Jayalalithaa in a graft case and urging an appeal in the SC.

DMK spokesman KS Radhakrishnan told ET that the party will “move fast” but did not specify what the party is likely to do. One of its leaders, K Anbazhagan, is a petitioner in the disproportionate assets case where it has been alleged that the former CM possessed assets exceeding her known sources of income.
“Our leader has already issued a statement on the mistakes in the order. As per the high court’s own observations, if there are calculation errors then that means Jayalalithaa is guilty,’’ Radhakrishnan said.
Earlier on Tuesday, opposition parties in Tamil Nadu, including DMK, PMK and Congress issued statements pointing to what they said were errors in the judgement and urged the Karnataka government, which is prosecuting the case, to immediately move the Supreme Court.
DMK Chief M Karunanidhi in his statement said that simple arithmetic errors show that the calculated value of disproportionate assets could be much more than what has been mentioned in the order.
