The Commission has also summoned a host of doctors from the Apollo Hospitals who have contributed to critical care of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa during her stay in the hospital between September and December 2018.
A person aware of the summons at the Commission said: "This is the first time Mr Rao is being called again for a reexamination." Rao has been summoned to appear before the Commission on October 24. The Commission will begin its next round of examination of witnesses on October 22.
It has sought for an extension of its tenure to examine more witnesses. Whether or not the Government approves the Commission's extension request will be revealed nest week, said the person. The Commission was set up in September last year and has has extensions twice so far.
Rao was examined for the first time in April this year. He had deposed before the panel that an idea to fly Jayalalithaa out of India for further treatment, as was done for former chief minister MG Ramachandran, was disucssed in late September 2018. But, the idea "never took a shape," he had submitted with the Justice Arumughaswamy Commission of Inquiry.
