CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today appealed for compassion and equal treatment of AIDS affected persons.

In her World AIDS Day message, she said as part of prevention, all should opt for voluntary blood tests.

"I request that AIDS affected persons be shown compassion and treated equally and instill in them self-confidence," she said.

December 1 is observed as World AIDS Day.
