Jaya to stage hunger strike at Raja's home turf

CHENNAI: Taking her battle over 2G spectrum allocation to the home turf of former Union Telecom Minister A Raja, AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa today announced that her party would stage a hunger strike at his native Perambalur district.

"Raja has committed a scam of unprecedented proportions. DMK president M Karunanidhi is also backing him. The AIADMK will stage a hunger strike at Perambalur (Raja's native district) on December 27 against this," she said in a statement here.

The Opposition leader also charged Raja with being involved in a land scam in the district.

Her party would demand for the retrieval of these lands besides pressing for implementing various welfare projects, she said.

Raja had represented the constituency during the previous Lok Sabha term, before switching over to Nilgiris in 2009.
