“I don’t want to thank you as I am not able to decide whether I should recall the time when you used to walk from this side (opposition benches) shouting (slogans) or remember the time when you are sitting on this Chair,” she said.
Rakesh Sinha (BJP) raised a point of order saying, “the Opposition is degrading the House by casting aspersions on the Chair”.
When Kalita asked the “honourable member” to continue her speech, Bachchan said, “Thank you for calling me honourable. If you really believe I am honourable then listen to me carefully. We want justice. We don’t expect justice from there (Treasury) but can we expect it from you? How are you protecting the members of this House or the 12 members sitting outside? How are you protecting them?”
Her outburst came hours after her daughter-in-law and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan deposed before the Enforcement Directorate officials here in the Panama Papers case.
She asked the Opposition who they have been trying to reason with for so long on suspension of members.
“Your bad days are going to come very soon. If your attitude continues like this, your bad days are going to come very soon,” she said. Turning to the Chair, she said, “If you are not going to allow us to speak then strangle us. Run the House without us.”
A BJP member reportedly made a remark saying this is not a film set but real life and she act accordingly, further irking Bachchan.
