PANAJI: Stressing the need for better clothing and accommodation for the troops stationed in Jammu and Kashmir, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today said some of the jawans who fought the infiltrators in Uri sector recently suffered frost-bites.

"Many of these jawans who fought back the terrorists are suffering from frostbites," he said here.

The Defence Minister had visited the Himalayan state yesterday.

The jawans should have better winter clothes and winter accommodations, he said.

"Forces should feel confident that they are being cared for. I consider human resource an important asset of the armed forces. We need to boost their morale," Parrikar said.

"They should be given accommodation as good as that provided in Siachen. They are working in minus-zero temperatures," he added.
