Jawan injured in Pak firing dies in Poonch

JAMMU: An Army jawan, who was injured in firing by Pakistani troops on Indian posts along the Line of Control in Poonch sector, has died in a hospital.

Sepoy Moray Sehdev of 17 Mahar Regiment, who was hit by a volley of bullets from the Pakistani side, which violated the ceasefire along LoC in Krishna Ghati sub-sector of Poonch, district died in a military hospital last night, an Army officer of 16 Corps said.

The body is being sent to his native place in Gujarat for last rites, he said.

Pakistani troops had violated the ceasefire by resorting to heavy shelling of rockets and firing indiscriminately on Indian forward posts along the LoC yesterday.

It was the third ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops this month.

On October 1 and 2, Pakistan troops had fired mortars, rockets and opened indiscriminate fire on Indian posts in Krishnaghati and Jallas sub-sectors.

They had also fired at Kerni and KG sub-sectors in Poonch on September 28 and 29.
