Jats to protest in Delhi on October 20

An organisation representing the Jats accused the Union government of delaying a decision on reservation to the community in government jobs.

HISAR: An organisation representing the Jats today accused the Union government of delaying a decision on reservation to the community in government jobs and announced to stage a demonstration in Delhi on October 20.

All India Jat Reservation Action Committee president, Yash Pal Malik said "the government is not taking a decision leaving us with no other option, but to stage a demonstration."

The government is "still busy in conducting survey of Jat gotras (sub caste), which is quite unjustified," he said.

The National Backward Classes Commission, which is conducting the survey to check the backwardness claimed by the community, has found more than 300 gotras of the caste group in six states.

Malik alleged that the Commission is misguiding the Union government by raising the issue of 'gotras' in the matter of reservation.

The community will stage a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on October 20, he said.
