Jarnail Singh Brar poster causes flutter in Vikhroli

A poster eulogizing Sikh militant Jarnail Singh Brar, more popularly known as Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was put up in a under construction Gurudwara in Vikhroli's Tagore Nagar.

The single poster that was put up to commemorate the 1984 Operation Blue Star in which Bhindranwale and many of the Sikh devotees inside the Sikh Shrine Golden Temple were killed caused a flutter with the local Vikhroli police. The cops who came to know after a regional TV channel aired footage of the poster, immediately went and removed the poster from the Gurudwara.

The poster put up at the Gurudwara showed a poster of Bhindranwale asking Sikhs not to forget what happened in 1984. ‘Never Forget 1984’ says the poster and praising Bhindranwale it says that a ‘Coward dies a thousand deaths but a warrior dies but once….

It then goes on to attribute a quote to Bhindranwale, “ When the time comes for confrontation don’t kill the poor. Don’t molest the women and don’t trouble the old. But when the time comes don’t spare anyone who insults the Guru..”

While similar poster being put up at Jammu which were taken down by the Jammu police led to rioting, the Vikhroli police has not conducted any investigations to find out who put the posters. Even a case has not been filed at the police station. Police officials said that they would be speaking to the Gurdwara authorities where the poster was put but added that they won’t issue any summons.
