Janata Dal (Secular) decides to back out of Jayanagar bypoll

The Assembly constituency of Jayanagar, was countermanded owing to the death of then MLA B.N. Vijayakumar on May 4.

JD(S) has issued press release stating that all workers will support and campaign for Congress candidate.
H. D. Kumaraswamy led Janata Dal(Secular) today decided to back out of Jayanagar bypoll and support Congress Candidate. The JD(S) leadership had clearly stated that their workers would provide unequivocal support to the Congress party

In Jayanagar, the Congress had fielded Soumya Reddy, daughter of Ramalinga Reddy, former Home Minister and BTM Layout MLA. The JD(S) had fielded greenhorn Kale Gowda. The constituency has over 2.03 lakh voters, and 19 candidates. BJP has held the seat since delimitation in 2008.
