LUCKNOW: The opposition-sponsored ' Jan Aakrosh Diwas' against demonetisation today failed to evoke response in Uttar Pradesh with offices and business establishments doing normal work and vehicles plying as usual.

No major party in the state supported the protest, while Congress and AAP workers held separate programmes against the Centre's note ban decision.

Congress leaders organised a march in the state capital while Aam Admi Party (AAP) held public interaction to apprise the people of the pros and cons of demonetisation.

Congress workers led by AICC secretary Avinash Pandey and UP legislator Akhilesh Pratap Singh marched from GPO to Shahid Smarak raising slogans against the Narendra Modi government.

The Congress leaders alleged that Narendra Modi government has "failed" to bring back black money as promised in 2014.

AAP leaders held a dialogue with common people and alleged a 'scam' worth Rs 8 lakh crore under the garb of demonetisation.
