Jamshedpur lawyer to represent terrorist Azmal Amir Kasab
A practising Jamshedpur lawyer, Rajiv Kumar Singh, has expressed willingness to take up Kasab's case as no lawyer has shown interest to defend him.

In a letter to the Chief Justice of India, the lawyer Rajiv Kumar Singh said he wished to take up Kasab's case as no lawyer has shown interest to defend him.
It was admitted that Kasab was a terrorist who was involved in the killing of innocent people in Mumbai, but it was also necessary to provide him legal assistance otherwise the legal proceedings will be deemed vitiated, he said.
While seeking permission, Singh, a criminal lawyer with five year's experience, however, prayed that Kasab's case be transferred to the district civil court here and he be allowed to initiate the trial of the case at Jamshedpur.
To a query, Singh said here today that whether it was an anti-national or a criminal, the trial would take place under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
A copy of the letter was also forwarded to the chief justice of the Jharkhand High Court, the Union Home Minister, governor of Jharkhand, Maharashtra home minister and the NHRC.
