Jammu youth returns home after 11 years in Pak jail

Having strayed into Pakistan in 1997, Mangal Singh today returned to his home in border belt of Pallanwala in the district after being released from a Pakistani jail.

JAMMU: Having strayed into Pakistan in 1997, Mangal Singh today returned to his home in border belt of Pallanwala in the district after being released from a Pakistani jail.

Singh, who strayed into Sialkote belt of Pakistan on 23 February, 1997, was arrested by Pakistani rangers and subsequently awarded jail term for illegally entering into the country, official sources said. He spent 11 years in Kot Lakhpat, Sialkote and Zaffarwal jails.

Singh, who was released a few days back walked back to freedom via Wagah border and returned to his home in Channi Dewani border hamlet. Family members distributed sweets to celebrate his arrival.
